Thomas Hanley LEED AP

Tom has been with 4240 since 2005 and is a Senior Associate at the Chicago studio. He has been practicing architecture for the past sixteen years in both Chicago and Los Angeles.

The various building types Tom has worked on include; commercial interiors, multi-use, governmental, institutional, multi-family residential, and single family residential. His experience prior to joining 4240, includes work on several high rises in downtown Chicago, high-end custom houses in Los Angeles and a 35,000 sf residence in Dubai. He has even designed his parents' beach house at the Jersey Shore.

At 4240, Tom's project responsibilities have ranged from project designer to project architect and project manager depending on the needs of the firm at the time. He is a LEED AP and most recently the project manager for the 56,000sf Dallas Citizenship and Immigration Services building (a project seeking LEED Silver certification) and the project architect for several significant portions of a $3 billion resort complex.

Tom sees architecture as the sculpting of space and light to achieve a built form through the union of concept and craftsmanship. Tom has served as a guest design critic at the University of Illinois at Chicago. From Tom's perspective, sustainability is not an issue separate from other project concerns; rather sustainability needs be an integral part of every project and work in conjunction with the project's overall design and goals.
